The principle: what this site does not do​

This site is static. There is no analytics tool, no tracking pixel, no cookies for advertising or analytics, and no third-party resource embedded anywhere:

• Fonts are served from this server, not from Google Fonts. No connection to fonts.gstatic.com takes place.
• Search runs entirely in your browser against an index shipped with the page. Queries never leave your device.
• No social media plugins are embedded. The links to LinkedIn and GitHub are ordinary links; a request happens only once you click.

A single technical cookie, or rather a localStorage entry, is set: your choice between the light and dark appearance. It contains no personal data and is never transmitted.

Hosting: GitHub Pages​

This website is delivered via GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.

When the site is accessed, GitHub processes the following in server log files, among others: IP address, date and time of access, the file requested, the volume of data transferred, browser type and operating system, and the previously visited page. This processing is technically necessary in order to deliver the site.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in technically error-free provision).

Third-country transfer: GitHub also processes data in the USA. GitHub is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for contract-related enquiries, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

Retention: until the matter is concluded and no statutory retention periods apply.

RSS feed​

Fetching the RSS feed produces the same server log files as an ordinary page view. No processing beyond that takes place; in particular there are no tracking pixels in the feed.

Your rights​

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21).

An informal message to the email address above is enough to exercise them.

Independently of that, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).

The competent authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen), Kavalleriestraße 2-4, 40213 Düsseldorf, ldi.nrw.de.
